About LAT Images
Leaders in motorsport photography
LAT Images has been capturing the visual excitement of motor racing for over half a century, and its archive of powerful imagery extends far beyond that – to the turn of the previous century, in fact. That’s why LAT Images has become the motorsport industry’s number one destination for bespoke photography, contemporary sporting imagery, and archive material spanning virtually the entire history of the motor car.
The history
At its core, LAT Images is a family business. It started life as the in-house photographic resource of Motor Sport magazine, driven by Michael Tee, son of the magazine’s proprietor. It became a standalone agency when sponsors began to arrive into Formula 1 in the 1960s, and today it is directed by Michael’s son Steven, whose passion for racing and great photography has powered the business to greater expansion as a thriving element of the Motorsport Network.
Our clients
In the present, we are the undisputed number one specialist photographic agency in the motorsport market, servicing teams and sponsors, circuits, promoters and racing series as well as a global roster of media outlets, both specialist and non-specialist. LAT Images also furnishes the Motorsport Network’s entire portfolio of magazines and websites with bespoke photography.
The world’s largest motorsport archive
LAT’s archive holds the largest and most comprehensive collection of motorsport imagery in the world, as well as an extensive road car archive. Consisting of over 14 million images, this body of artistic work includes automotive imagery from as early as 1895, and includes shots from the first ever Grand Prix, the 1906 French GP.
The history & heritage of motorsport
Recent acquisitions, including that of the Rainer Schlegelmilch archive and Sutton Motorsport Images (which includes the Phipps collection), have added even greater depth and scope to our offering. A new website, combined with the fruits of our ongoing digitization project, will soon enable unprecedented access to this wealth of historic imagery.
Expert motorsport curators
Whether you’re looking for an unforgettable shot of Lewis Hamilton’s most recent win, a classic image of Juan Manuel Fangio’s first victory, or even a picture of Jacky Ickx challenging Bruce McLaren for the lead of the 1967 London Trophy Formula 2 race at Crystal Palace, LAT Images is the best and most comprehensive place to find it.
